Reflecting on childhood memories of visits to Siesta Key and the Gulf of Mexico, I recall the wonder of a place where the expanse of sand, wild, untouched jungle and the powerful pull of the sea made an indelible impression.
This original painting on paper is part of my “Engulfed” series. It was built up in layers over time – much like memories, and expresses my sensory experience of warm tropical sun, the buzz of life in the dunes and the varied textures and colors of warm sand.
